Inclusion should go beyond schools… it should be incorporated into communities, sports, and the workplace.

Special with a Side of Mom uses inclusion events, social gatherings, website applications, and social media platforms to reach caregivers and parents.

We are also partnering with local organizations, employers, sports and recreational teams to provide inclusive systems to benefit all members of society.

Inclusion in Schools

Inclusion in Schools

  • Helps neurotypical kids develop compassion, diversity, patience and acceptance of all people.
  • Helps the child with the limitations develop socially and cognitively, helping each child reach their potential.
  • Creates diversity within the classroom.
  • Brings awareness to disability inclusion and empowers children to embrace differences among people/peers and connect on similarities.
Inclusion in Communities

Inclusion in Communities

  • Learn about differences and become more accepting.
  • Creates an opportunity for us to unite together different strengths, experiences, technologies and skill sets.
  • Support the caregivers through community outreach.
  • Give our kids meaning and emotional support and a sense of belonging.
Inclusion in Sports

Inclusion in Sports

  • Allows the children to be active, social, and learn life skills (your turn, my turn).
  • Great for social development of all children.
  • Acquisition of skills through sports programs can develop the self-confidence to pursue employment or further education.
  • Participation can help fight prejudices and empower participants.
Inclusion in the Workplace

Inclusion in the Workplace

  • Allows special needs people to be productive members of society.
  • Requires less financial assistance from government.
  • Gives them meaning. Doesn’t everyone want to feel needed?
  • It pays to be inclusive; research has correlated an inclusive workplace for persons with disabilities with financial performance.
